A MOTORIST was arrested after allegedly failing a drugs test in Barrhead town centre.
The 33-year-old man was stopped in Main Street at around 2.30pm on Monday.
Officers are also reported to have discovered that his vehicle was uninsured and he is banned from driving.
It is alleged he subsequently failed a drugs test for cannabis and will appear in court at a later date.
A police spokesperson said: "We take road safety issues seriously and are continuing to work with partners and our specialist road policing colleagues to influence positive driver behaviour and detect those who continue to cause harm on our roads and in our communities.
"Please contact your local police if you have any concerns or information."
