OVERNIGHT road closures will affect drivers heading to and from East Renfrewshire next week.

Motorists travelling southbound on the M77 between Junction 2 (Silverburn) and Junction 3 (Darnley) face diversions from 8pm until 6am each night on Thursday, March 30, and Friday, March 31.

This is to allow overhead sign gantries to be refurbished.

The work is being carried out by Amey on behalf of Transport Scotland, with signs in place to help drivers follow an alternative route.

A spokesperson for Amey said: "We thank road users for their patience and co-operation while this essential work takes place.

"Traffic intending to travel southbound on the M77 will be diverted via the M77 Junction 2 off-slip and will follow Barrhead Road westbound, onto Peat Road southbound and Nitshill Road eastbound.

"From here, traffic will be able to rejoin the M77 southbound at Junction 3.

"Access for emergency service vehicles will be maintained throughout."

The work is weather dependent and may be cancelled or rescheduled if conditions are not favourable.
