Neilston were narrowly beaten by Clydebank in the quarter-finals of the West of Scotland Football League Cup despite a spirited fight-back against the Premier Division outfit.

The Bankies took the lead after 13 minutes when Alan Kelly headed in and Nicky Little added a second less than ten minutes before the interval with a well-taken free-kick.

Little added the third just seconds after the break but Neilston responded immediately through Robbie Halliday.

Darren Jones pulled another one back for the hosts just after the hour but they couldn’t find an equaliser to force extra-time and they also finished with ten men after Lewis Kinnaird was dismissed on 77 minutes with Clydebank now set to face St Roch’s in the semi-final next month.

The Brig O’Lea side return to league duty this weekend when they make the trip to Guy’s Meadow to take on Cumbernauld United. Kick-off is at 2pm.
