TWO worthy causes in East Renfrewshire are to receive a welcome windfall, courtesy of The National Lottery Community Fund.
An award of almost £100,000 has been made to East Renfrewshire Good Causes, which has supported thousands of local people since its launch in 2007.
It will use the funding to pay for a project manager, helping the charity continue its important work, which has included providing physio sessions for a cancer patient, a baby monitor for a cash-strapped family and a new shower for a disabled pensioner.
Also benefitting from a Lottery grant is St Andrew's Parish Church, in Barrhead.
It has received a £10,000 award, which will be spent on a series of improvements at its community hall.
Kate Still, chair of The National Lottery Community Fund in Scotland, said: “Our funding continues to support people who are facing tough times and having to make difficult choices on a day-to-day basis.
“National Lottery players can be very proud that they are supporting this vital work, making a real difference to so many.”
