A WORTHY cause in East Renfrewshire is to receive a welcome windfall from a major restaurant chain.
The Isobel Mair Family Centre, in Newton Mearns, will bank £3,000 from Nando’s, with the donation being funded through mandatory charges for single-use paper carrier bags.
Branches of Nando's across Scotland were asked to choose a good cause to support, with the Isobel Mair Family Centre selected by staff at the Silverburn outlet.
More than £100,000 is being shared by 36 worthy causes across Scotland and Wales.
Nando's also runs the ‘No Chuckin’ Our Chicken’ initiative, which sees any cooked chicken that hasn’t been sold temperature checked, frozen and delivered to worthy causes at the end of every night.
Richard Craft, Nando’s UK community lead, said: “We hope these donations, on top of our food donation programme, will help our fantastic partners to continue their work in feeding those who need it most.”
