AN East Renfrewshire school is calling on former pupils, teachers, parents, neighbours and staff to share their memories as part of a project to celebrate its 90th birthday.

The ‘90 Years in 90 Minutes’ initiative will bring together interesting stories about Netherlee Primary and present them in a series of podcasts.

The school’s milestone was reached earlier this month and has already been celebrated in a number of ways, including talent shows, parties and art projects.

Pupils also lined up in the playground to form a huge 90 as part of the celebrations.

Meanwhile, members of the pupil-led Tech Team are working hard to bring the school's history to life.

A number of podcast episodes are already available on Spotify and Anchor, with the first featuring an interview with current headteacher Yvonne Donaldson.

Once completed, the series of podcasts about the Clarkston Road school will amount to 90 minutes in total.

The aim is to provide short bursts of history, highlighting different perspectives of life at Netherlee Primary from the past nine decades through personal stories.

Ms Donaldson said: “We are looking to record a wide array of stories which reflect the interesting and diverse history of Netherlee Primary.

"Netherlee is more than just a school, it is a community – and this podcast will help tell some of the community’s stories.

"Pupils have gone on to success in a wide variety of fields, have travelled the world, have experienced so much but it all started here at Netherlee.”

The Tech Team is a group of P7 leaders who have a keen interest in digital technology.

They help younger pupils access technology, as well as compiling podcasts and providing light and sound production for school events.

Anyone who has a story to tell about Netherlee Primary can send an email to schoolmail@netherlee.e-renfrew.sch.uk or call 0141 570 7260.
