WATER damage appears to have caused a green material to form on the side of a new development in Battlefield.

Pictures reveal the 'growth' on almost half of the facade on one of the new flat blocks at the Victoria Infirmary development.

A spokesperson for Sanctuary Homes, the developer behind the transformation project, told the Glasgow Times that the appearance of the brickwork was caused by a "weather-damaged gutter" and would be cleaned by a "specialist contractor" next week.

The gutter has since been repaired, the spokesperson said.

The Glasgow Times understands that a Building Standards officer from Glasgow City Council is expected to be in touch with the property developers to find out about the nature of the material.
