Motorists in Barrhead are facing road closures in the coming weeks to “facilitate essential carriageway resurfacing.”

Both Carlibar Road and Rufflees Avenue will be shut in a series of phases as the work takes place on or near there.

The restrictions had been scheduled to be in place in October and November last year but will now be in operation between Monday, January 23, and Friday, February 10.

Phase one will involve the closure of the full length of Rufflees Avenue, while phase two will see Carlibar Road shut from and including its junction with Commercial Road up to its junction with Walton Street.

During phase three, Carlibar Road will close from its junction with Walton Street up to and including its junction with Muriel Street.

Finally, phase four will see Carlibar Road shut between its junction with Muriel Street and Cross Arthurlie Street.

All vehicles will be restricted except those associated with the resurfacing work and emergency service vehicles attending an incident.

Alternative routes during phase one include Carlibar Road to Dovecothall Street to Crossmill Avenue and vice-versa or Carlibar Road to Stewart Street and then on to Crossmill Avenue and vice-versa.

During phase two, traffic will be able to go from Glen Street to Church Road, then on to Main Street and Dovecothall Street and vice-versa.

The alterative route for phase three is Cross Arthurlie Street to Main Street and Dovecothall Street and vice-versa.

During phase four, traffic will be able to go from Cross Arthurlie Street to Main Street, on to Church Road and then Glen Street and vice-versa.
