A WOMAN who allegedly crashed her car in Barrhead has been charged with drink-driving.

Police were called to an incident in the town in the early hours of Saturday morning.

It is claimed the driver took part in a roadside breath test, which she failed.

She was taken into custody but later released and is expected to appear in court at a future date.

Police confirmed that no other vehicles were involved in the incident and said they are unable to give more details of the location for legal reasons.

Inspector Michelle Grant told the Barrhead News: "A 46-year-old female was arrested and charged with road traffic offences.

"No persons were injured as a result of this incident.

"Police Scotland are committed to making our roads safer. I would encourage anyone who has any concerns to contact us on 101, contact your local policing team or call 999 if an emergency."
