With Christmas just around the corner, some might already be looking ahead to see when bins are being picked up over the festive period.

The Christmas season is a time when bins fill up fast and with bin collection dates altered this can sometimes lead to a build-up of clutter.

Not knowing when to put your bins out or missing a collection date can leave your bin unusable for weeks.

However, there is no need to worry as we outline the changes to bin collection dates in East Renfrewshire.

Here is everything you need to know ahead of the big day.

East Renfrewshire bin collection changes this Christmas

East Renfrewshire Council has said on its website that bin services will change for residents over the Christmas period.

Services such as waste collection, libraries, leisure centres, and art venues will all have revised operations.

The Council said that there will be no brown bin collections from Monday, December 26 until January 9.

All other bins will be collected as normal through the festive period but special uplifts will be suspended from December 26 until January 9.

However, residents will be able to book uplifts from Thursday, January 5.

Barrhead and Greenhags recycling centres will be closed on Christmas and New Year's Day.

Will East Renfrewshire Council take my Christmas tree away?

If you have a garden waste permit, your Christmas tree will be picked up for you at no additional cost. The tree must be broken down and disposed of in your bin with the lid fully closed.
