A SINGER from Barrhead has hit the right note with jazz enthusiasts after winning a prestigious award.
Katie Doyle, who goes by the stage name of 'kitti,' has been named Best Vocalist at the 2022 Scottish Jazz Awards.
The talented 26-year-old previously won the award in 2020 and also received the Female Breakthrough prize at the Scottish Music Awards that same year.
Katie, who lived in Barrhead for around eight years and now stays in Glasgow, said she was "still in shock" after her latest achievement,
She told the Barrhead News: "I didn't really expect to win at all and it's very nice to receive the award.
"It was good to actually be at the ceremony this time, as the last time I won it we were in lockdown.
"I would like to thank everyone who voted for me."
Katie supported jazz singer Georgia Cecile at the Glasgow Jazz Festival this year, as well as playing at the Edinburgh and Dundee Jazz Festivals.
She has also supported other well-known musicians, such as Mavis Staples and Van Morrison.
Katie is now preparing to record her first album next month, which will have a mix of soul and jazz music.
She said: "I can't wait, as I've been wanting to record an album for the best part of 10 years.
"It's pretty exciting and the 12-track album should hopefully be released later in 2023."
