A DUMBARTON taxi driver’s bid to have his licence renewed will be decided by councillors next week – after police objected to the application.
James McCallum, of Bellsmyre, applied to West Dunbartonshire Council (WDC) in July for renewal of his licence.
But papers published on the local authority’s website reveal that Police Scotland submitted an objection to Mr McCallum’s application on August 30.
A report to be considered by WDC’s licensing committee at a meeting on Wednesday, December 7 states that although the deadline for a police objection was August 10, Police Scotland told the council it was “unable to submit its response within the statutory 28 day timescale due to matters concerning the applicant which required further monitoring”.
Mr McCallum also asked for a continuation when the case was due to call in October.
The reason for the police objection has not been made public.
