FAMILIES enjoyed a festive time in Barrhead on Saturday, despite the wet weather, as the town’s Christmas lights were switched on.
Crowds turned out to take part in a merry medley of activities, with Santa’s Grotto proving to be popular as kids queued to meet the jolly man in the red suit.
The rain did little to dampen the festive spirit, with live entertainment, funfair rides and free rickshaw rides providing fun for all the family.
Visitors were able to enjoy some early Christmas shopping, with a variety of stalls offering a range of unique gifts and tasty treats.
A number of lucky winners will also be able to spend hundreds of pounds worth of gift vouchers after taking part in several activities, such as guessing the total number of candy canes inside a lantern.
While high winds did lead to the giant Christmas tree outside the town’s Asda store topping over multiples times last week, it thankfully managed to stay upright during the event.
