A new bar with a South African twist will open tomorrow in Glasgow’s West End.
Inspired by owner Bradley Potteron’s heritage, BRU can be found at 734 Dumbarton Road in a cosy space that formerly housed the St Louis Café.

Expect a gastro-pub style menu that uses local produce for gourmet pizzas, small plates and brunch dishes including the Bunnychow a hollowed-out loaf of bread that’s usually filled with curry, which will be served in a morning roll with a fried egg during breakfast service.
Named after the South African word for close friend, Bradley says that he is hoping to create a ‘home away from home’ for the local community at Bru by showcasing local suppliers, musicians, and artists.

The 43-year-old is no stranger to the Glasgow food and drink scene having worked as assistant manager of West End institution Zique’s and will be joined by head chef Scott Barron, who was most recently based at The Gallery restaurant in Tobermory.
Ahead of tomorrow’s opening date, Bradley said: “The support from the industry and public has been amazing.
“From connecting with local suppliers the minute we decided to open, to getting to know the characters of Thornwood and beyond.
“We’re excited we can now, finally, welcome everyone in.”
BRU will open from Wednesdays to Mondays 9am to 9pm.
