A DRAMA group based in Barrhead is on the lookout for new recruits.

After taking a break for a year, Dunterlie Adult Drama is back in action, with leader Annmarie Strain showing the way.

Getting together has allowed the group to draw up plans for a small festive production to tie into a potential Christmas lunch at the Dunterlie Community Centre.

Annmarie said: “We had a little bit of funding last year through Barrhead Housing and Comic Relief and the group we had were very keen to keep it going this year.

“This year, we are funded through Better Barrhead and we secured the hall thanks to the Dunterlie Action Group.”

The drama group is open to all adults, with members welcome to bring their children along, as there is plenty to keep kids entertained.

Annmarie, who also runs the In Cahootz drama class for children, added: “We’ve been looking at the effects of lockdown on mental wellbeing and trying to break down barriers, learn new skills and get to know each other.

“Everything we do is developed within the group. It’s all their ideas, I’m just there to facilitate it.

“Drama is important to me. It gives me so much drive and inspiration.

“I always wonder ‘if I didn’t have the opportunities drama gave me when I was younger, where would I be now?’ “I want to provide a safe space for adults where they can relax and be themselves.

“Life is for living and we should grab every opportunity.”

It is free to attend the Dunterlie Adult Drama group and those who go along can also enjoy a free cuppa and a biscuit.
