A PAIR of East Renfrewshire teenagers took the plunge for charity by completing a daredevil bungee challenge.

Best friends Molly Miller, 16, and Olivia Houston, 17, jumped at the chance to leap off a platform 160 feet above the River Clyde in aid of Who Cares? Scotland.

Molly’s mum Carolelynne works for the charity, which is Scotland’s only national independent membership organisation for care-experienced people.

The term ‘care experienced’ refers to anyone who is currently in care or has been for any length of time, regardless of their age. This can include foster care, kinship care, residential care or adoption.

Molly said: “My mum started working there five years ago and she is always telling me about her work. It makes me proud hearing about the fantastic job she does.

“Because of this, I’ve done lots to raise money for them. This year I’ve already done the Glasgow Kiltwalk and now being able to tick something off my bucket list, while also raising money, was really amazing.”

Molly and Olivia, who are from Clarkston, travelled to the Riverside Museum, in Glasgow, for the bungee jump.

“We do everything together and, when we heard about the bungee jump, we thought it was an amazing way to have fun and do some good at the same time,” said Olivia.

“We’d really appreciate any support and we’ll be super grateful for any donations.”

Louise Hunter, chief executive at Who Cares? Scotland, said: “We’re very impressed by Molly and Olivia’s bravery and commitment to take on such an exciting yet terrifying challenge.

“Their efforts will support valuable initiatives like our helpline to provide a lifetime of equality, respect and love for care-experienced people .”
