Leaders at the 1st Barrhead Scouts are appealing for donations of unwanted used Lego for a special exhibition they are hosting next month.

‘Brickin It’ will take place on Saturday, September 24, and will see the Scouts welcome members of Tartan LUG – Scotland’s Premier Lego user group – and their impressive exhibition pieces to their base in Arthurlie Street.

The event, which is open to the public, will showcase many Lego models and original creations in a bid to raise funds for repairs to the hall.

There will also be a tearoom and a raffle.

Sheilagh Stewart, one of the Beaver and Cub leaders, said: “To get our young people, who are aged six to 17, involved, we’re looking for donations of unwanted used Lego.

“This is so our young people can create their own models, working on their builder, model makers and creative badges as part of our build up to the exhibition.”

Any new Lego donated will be used in the raffle on the day.

The group has already received kind donations from Smyths toys.

General admission on the day will cost £5, with free admission for those aged under five.

All tickets must be bought in advance, including those for under-fives, while all those aged under 16 must be accompanied by an adult.

Anyone who would like to donate Lego is asked to send an email to firstbarrheadscout@gmail.com.
