TRAIN passengers are being warned of cancellations to services on Tuesday morning. 

Scotrail is advising customers on Twitter that, due to a fault at Kilmarnock, trains between Glasgow Central and Barrhead / Kilmarnock / Carlisle are being disrupted. 

The tweet read: "Due to a fault with the signalling system at Kilmarnock, trains between Glasgow and Barrhead / Kilmarnock / Carlisle will be disrupted.

"Network Rail are on site and are working to rectify the issue as soon as possible."

The Scotrail website is reporting a "major disruption", with the following services cancelled:

  • 10:13 Glasgow Central to Kilmarnock due to call at Barrhead at 10:26
  • 10:27 Glasgow Central to Kilmarnock due to call at Barrhead at 10:54
  • 11:00 Kilmarnock to Glasgow Central due to call at Barrhead at 11:24

The 10:28 Kilmarnock to Glasgow Central service, meanwhile, will be started from Barrhead at 10:57.

Network Rail is currently on site to fix the fault.

A tweet read: "We're on site at Kilmarnock this morning to investigate a signalling problem.

"The team on the ground are working to investigate the source of this and rectify the issue as quickly as possible.

"We'll provide further updates once we have more information on this."

A more recent update from Scotrail said: "We have arranged for your rail tickets to be accepted on Stagecoach West buses between Glasgow and Kilmarnock at no extra cost, just show your valid ticket or smartcard to the driver."
