Projects in East Renfrewshire have been awarded more than £60,000 by the Scottish Government to help tackle a “nature emergency.”
The investment comes from the Nature Restoration Fund and will support East Renfrewshire Council and local communities as they deliver projects which support habitat and species restoration, freshwater restoration and removal of non-native species.
Ross Greer, Green MSP for the West of Scotland, has welcomed the award, which totals £61,000.
He said: “Scotland is world-renowned for our natural environment, wildlife and plantlife but, with one in nine Scottish species in danger of extinction, it’s clear we’re in a nature emergency that needs an immediate response.
“That’s exactly why the Greens delivered this Nature Restoration Fund.
“Investment in projects across East Renfrewshire will make a huge difference to both our natural environment and the local communities who live and work in it.
“This £61,000 is just one part of the story. I’m excited to see the progress we’ll be able to make over these critical next few years.”
