It was all to play for as a Neilston school hosted its first sports day since the start of the Covid pandemic.

St Thomas’ Primary had the perfect weather for an afternoon of races, snacks, and fun.

Parents were invited to cheer on from the sidelines as pupils took part in various contests, including egg-and-spoon races and three-legged races.

First, second and third places were awarded with medals to take home, and pupils had a snack break halfway through.

Deputy headteacher Vicki Clarke said: “It was wonderful to have our parents back in school again to enjoy the fun of sports day.

“A huge thank-you goes to Mrs Gallagher, one of our parent helpers, for organising the event, alongside Active Schools East Renfrewshire and our P6 sports leaders.

“Also, a special thank-you to our Parent Council for providing the tuck shop and the Neilston Co-op for providing us with free fruit.”

“Our children had the most amazing day!”
