Theatre lovers are in for a wicked time as panto fun returns to East Renfrewshire.

Almost 60 performances of The Wizard of Oz will take place at Eastwood Park Theatre between Friday, November 25, and Saturday, December 31.

Spillers Pantomimes are taking to the stage for the second year in a row, following the 2021 production of Peter Pan, which proved to be the Giffnock venue's most successful panto to date.

Garry King, who wowed the crowds as Smee last year, returns to take on the role of the Wizard and will also co-direct the show for the second year running.

Stephen McLaughlin will play the Wicked Witch, with full casting details to follow.

Garry told the Barrhead News: "I’m delighted to be back at Eastwood Park Theatre this Christmas, working with my friends at East Renfrewshire Culture and Leisure and Spillers.

"We have such an amazing cast and script lined up for everyone to enjoy. I can’t wait to get started on this year's production."

Tickets for the panto are now on sale, with hundreds of theatre-goers already signed up for priority access.

Barrhead News:

Kay Spillers, managing director of Spillers Pantomimes, said: "There's no place like Eastwood Park Theatre and we're delighted to be back with The Wizard of Oz for 2022's pantomime.

"Join the Wizard of Oz and the Wicked Witch along with Dorothy as she begins her adventure into the wonderful land of Oz.

"Helped along the way by the lion, tin man and scarecrow, this year's show will be filled with excitement, laughter and panto magic."

Anthony McReavy, of East Renfrewshire Culture and Leisure, added: "We can't wait to welcome Spillers Pantomimes back to Eastwood Park Theatre for The Wizard of Oz.

"Thousands came to sell-out shows last year and the feedback was incredibly positive.

"This year, we're planning an even bigger panto production, with a magical journey along the yellow brick road to Oz.

"The cast from Spillers Pantomimes have even more tricks and surprises up their sleeves this year, so our audiences are in for a real treat."

British Sign Language and relaxed performances will be available.

Ticket prices start at £12, with family tickets available from £50.
