A man has been arrested following a crash on a busy East Renfrewshire road in which three people were injured.

A 94-year-old woman was among those taken to hospital after the accident involving a Volkswagen Tiguan and a Ford Transit van shortly after 2pm on Monday, May 9.

She was a passenger in the Volkswagen. One of the other people left injured was a 67-year-old man who is also believed to have been travelling in the car.

This week, police issued a fresh appeal for witnesses to the smash, which took place on Lochlibo Road, near Neilston Road, Uplawmoor.

Sergeant Alan Cook, of the Road Policing Unit based at Helen Street, Glasgow, said: “Police were called to a two-vehicle crash on the A736.

"Two men and one woman were taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital and the Royal Alexandra Hospital for treatment.

“A 29-year-old man has been arrested and released pending enquiries.

“Any witnesses or anyone with dashcam footage is asked to contact 101.”
