East Renfrewshire residents are being encouraged to take the plunge by signing up for new fitness classes.

An Aqua Fit session is just one of the latest additions to the programme being offered by East Renfrewshire Culture and Leisure (ERCL).

The water-based class takes place at Neilston Leisure Centre on Wednesdays, starting at 6.15pm.

There is also a new Float Fit Balance class at the Neilston venue on Monday nights and at Eastwood Park Leisure on Thursdays.

Other additions to the fitness timetable include a buggy-friendly Body Pump class at Eastwood High Sports Centre, in Newton Mearns, on Sunday mornings, offering parents the chance to work out and bring their little ones along too.

The Eastwood venue is also hosting a new outdoor bootcamp session on Saturday mornings, while other classes include Aqua Fit on Tuesday nights.

Elsewhere, a new Friday morning pilates class is up and running at Clarkston Hall.

Kenny McDonnell, of ERCL, said: "We're adding to our fitness classes across East Renfrewshire and encourage everyone to come along and join in at our indoor and outdoor sessions, which offer a fantastic way to get fit and stay motivated in a supportive environment.

"Regular fitness classes have a positive impact on your health and wellbeing, physically and mentally, and our fitness instructors are there to support you every step of the way."

Classes are available as part of ERCL membership or on a pay-as-you-go basis.
