A NEILSTON dad has coined in more than £2,000 for charity by taking part in the Kiltwalk’s 22.6-mile Mighty Stride.
Anwar Rafiq completed the journey from Glasgow Green to Balloch Country Park in aid of the Neilston War Memorial Association (NWMA).
The 52-year-old has taken on the event twice before but this was his longest yet and he managed to cross the finish line in an impressive time of five hours and 27 minutes.
So far, his fundraising page has received £1,400 in donations, which will be topped up by 50% courtesy of Kiltwalk founder Sir Tom Hunter and The Hunter Foundation.
Anwar said: “The money raised is fabulous, considering all the financial restraints people have. Special thanks also to (my t-shirt sponsors) The Village Chippy, Barrhead Lock and Door Company and Dusting Donna Ltd.”
