One of Barrhead’s best-known firms is launching a recruitment drive after experiencing “continued growth.”

Barrhead Travel announced redundancies nearly two years ago as the impact of coronavirus restrictions took its toll, but in a more promising indication of its fortunes, it now aims to fill more than 50 roles across the country

The news comes as the tourism industry continues its resurgence after massive disruption caused by the pandemic.

According to bosses, demand for travel has continued to grow by around 20% per month since January.

The company, which has more than 80 branches and currently employs in excess of 500 staff, is seeking workers for roles ranging from travel consultant to store manager.

Jacqueline Dobson, president of Barrhead Travel, said: “Following two years of ups and downs, we’re delighted to see the tourism sector emerge once again.

“The renewed demand in travel has allowed us to expand our offering, in turn growing the team and offering expert training facilities.

“This is an ideal opportunity for someone interested in the travel industry and seeking a challenge with excellent career perks and prospects.”

Barrhead Travel says the new roles include “generous discounts on holidays and high street retailers,” as well as access to training and a development programme.

In addition to the recruitment drive, the company also said that, as a supporter of modern apprenticeships and the Kickstart scheme, it is continuing to offer young people “the chance to grow a prosperous career.”

A spokesperson added: “From sales to administration and from marketing to IT, there are a variety of opportunities for young people to launch a lifelong career in travel.”
