Barrhead’s classy canines did their owners proud at this year’s Crufts.

Nova, a 15-month-old Japanese Spritz, came first in the Junior Bitch category during her first time competing at the most famous dog competition in the world. Delighted owner Alison Gibson said: “I’m really pleased with her performance.

“It’s such a busy environment – and she coped really well.

“I’m so proud of her considering it was her first time at Crufts.” Another pair celebrating were Bob Lennox and his yellow Labrador, Maya.

Recently turned seven, it was Maya’s first time performing in the Veteran’s class, where she came second out of 27 dogs.

The poorly pooch is currently suffering from pancreatitis – meaning Bob was over the moon with the result.

He said: “She’s a wee star. She has achieved so much and I’m so proud of her, especially because she isn’t well at the moment.” Crufts have a YouTube channel where you can watch clips from the event.

You can follow updates on their Facebook page and website as they will be taking submissions for next year soon.
