A COUPLE enjoyed a magical day together as part of their diamond wedding anniversary celebrations, thanks to staff at a Barrhead care home.

Anne McLaughlin, who is a resident of Millview Care Home, was recently able to mark 60 years together with her husband Danny.

The celebrations were organised by staff at the care home, who wanted to help the couple have a special day to remember with loved ones.

The couple enjoyed being reunited with many beloved family members, who had not been together since the start of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Pride of place next to the couple’s two-tiered wedding cake was a telegram from the Queen, congratulating them for reaching this wonderful milestone in their marriage.

Their daughter, Anne-Marie, told the Barrhead News: “It was absolutely wonderful to spend time together as a family for the first time since Christmas 2019 and our thanks go to Millview for making this happen.

“Dad loved that mum was able to spend the afternoon with us.

“The day went incredibly well and this allowed us so many wonderful new memories of mum and dad together.”

One of Anne’s favourite care assistants from Millview Care Home accompanied her on the day.

Anne-Marie added: “It was incredibly kind of Donna to accompany mum and I’m certain that this contributed to the success of the day.

“Mum looked really lovely, the team had dressed her beautifully and had styled her hair too.

“She was in really good form.”

The family also praised staff at the Bentley's Grill restaurant, who hosted the event, as "they did a fantastic job and the food was wonderful."

Jennifer Campbell, manager at Millview Care Home, said: “I’m so happy that Anne and Danny’s celebration went so well.

“It is really lovely to know that all of the family were there to share their special day with them.”
