Motorists in the Barrhead area are being warned to expect disruption as a road is closed to allow Scottish Water to install new pipes.

A short section of Salterland Road will be closed to through traffic from Monday, March 14, until Friday, March 18.

Scottish Water said it has liaised with both East Renfrewshire Council and Glasgow City Council to plan road traffic management.

Access for residents will be provided.

A spokesperson for Scottish Water told the Barrhead News: "We apologise for any inconvenience and thank affected road users in advance for their patience and understanding.

"The pipe installation work is part of the Glasgow Resilience Project, which involves the installation of seven miles of new pipes to connect the Glasgow area’s water network and the system in Ayrshire.

"This will increase resilience and protect supplies for about one million customers.

"The new water main is being installed in the Ibrox, Mosspark, Pollok, Priesthill, Nitshill and Parkhouse areas.

"The project is being delivered for Scottish Water by Caledonia Water Alliance and is expected to be completed in 2023."
