PLANS for 90 new homes for rent to be built in North Glasgow have been given the go-ahead.
Officials at Glasgow City Council have approved plans submitted by the West of Scotland housing association to build the homes for social and mid-market rent at the site of the former Diageo distillery in Port Dundas.
The 90 new homes are part of a bigger redevelopment which will ultimately see 600 homes built at the site subject to planning permission.
Drawings for the second phase were submitted to the planning department last week.

The development will consist of a mixture of one, two and three bedroom flats and three or four wheelchair accessible townhouses.
Designs have also been submitted showing garden areas and a toddler playpark.
Fifty percent of the properties have been allocated parking spaces and there will be electric charging points to "encourage sustainable transport".
