A MAN was rushed to hospital after he was attacked in a Barrhead street on Sunday night.
The 27-year-old victim was in Gladstone Avenue, in the centre of town, when the assault took place.
He was taken to the Royal Alexandra Hospital, in Paisley, where he was treated for a seven-inch cut on his left arm before being released.
Police want to hear from anyone who witnessed the attack, which took place at around 9.30pm.
Officers have been studying footage from CCTV in the area to see if the assailant was caught on camera.
They are also trying to establish what type of weapon was used and the events leading up to the attack.
A spokesperson told the Barrhead News: "Because of the injury, this incident is being treated as a serious assault.
"Inquiries are being carried out in the local area.
"This appears to have been an isolated incident and there is no wider threat to the local community."
Anyone who has information or who witnessed the attack is asked to contact police on 101, quoting incident number 3710 of November 21.
