CHRISTMAS market trips are to take off again from Glasgow Airport this month.

Jet2 say their customers have been eagerly awaiting the return of the Christmas markets programme.

It includes scheduled flights and city breaks to Krakow from Glasgow Airport during winter and in the countdown to Christmas.

Steve Heapy, CEO, Jet2.com and Jet2holidays, said: “With many customers missing out last year, we are seeing strong demand from customers in Scotland looking to visit one of the best Christmas market destinations in Europe this winter.

“We know customers are as equally as delighted as us to see these services take off once again and this has translated into customers flocking to book Christmas Markets breaks.

“As well as visiting this atmospheric city, the flights and city breaks offer customers the chance to browse stalls and pick up some unique Christmas gifts in spellbinding settings.

“A visit to a Christmas market is sure to sprinkle some magic on any Christmas celebration.”

The news comes following the cancellation of Glasgow's own Christmas market in George Square.

Market Place Europe, which has previously run the operation, confirmed it had pulled the plug on the plans after experiencing access difficulties to the site.

The COP26 summit is reported to have thrown a spanner in the works after it was claimed Glasgow Life, who handles the festive events on behalf of Glasgow City Council, was unable to guarantee when organisers would be able to begin setting up for the beloved event.

The St Enoch market is still set to go ahead from November 21 to December 23.
