FLIGHTS between Dubai and Glasgow are set to restart next week as holidays are back on the radar.

The Dubai to Glasgow route will fly four times a week, from Glasgow Airport, beginning on Wednesday, August 11 until October 30.

Departing Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays, the Boeing 777-200LR will depart Dubai at 7.50am, arriving in Glasgow just in time for lunch at 12.45pm.

The Emirates flight will then fly back to Dubai at 2.35pm and will arrive at 1.05am, local time.

Residents from the UAE will still have to quarantine upon arrival in Scotland, but they will no longer have to upon arrival in other parts of the UK.

Adnan Kazim, Emirates Chief Commercial Officer said: “Emirates welcomes the decision to add the UAE to the UK’s ‘amber list’ for international travel, reflecting the extensive steps that have been taken to mitigate the spread of the virus in the UK and UAE.

"Since the UK’s announcement, we’ve seen a huge surge in queries from customers desperate to travel to see their families, planning their kids’ return for the new school term, as well as their postponed business or holiday travel. Emirates is reviewing our operations to various points in the UK and any service restart will be announced in the usual fashion.”

Mark Johnston, chief operating officer for AGS Airports Ltd, which owns Glasgow Airport, said: “Emirates’ decision to restart the country’s busiest long-haul route is a significant step towards rebuilding Scotland’s vital connectivity and will be welcome news to our passengers.

"We are in the early stages of the safe restart of international travel, but there remains a long road ahead for aviation in the UK and the thousands of people employed within our industry."
