Parents of youngsters recently diagnosed with autism or on the diagnostic pathway are being encouraged to join a free programme.

The National Autistic Society’s East Renfrewshire branch are running a project called Stepping Stones, which aims to support parents and carers in the early stages of learning about autism.

The programme will begin on August 24 and run on Zoom over four Tuesdays.

Each session will be from 7.30pm to 9pm on August 24 and 31 and September 7 and 14.

The topics covered in the four sessions will be as follows: ‘understanding autism’, ‘iceberg of behaviour and strategies’, ‘education rights’ and ‘local East Renfrewshire Services’.

Booking is required but there is no cost to families, as the organisation has received funding from The Robertson Trust to run Stepping Stones for all of 2021.
