A CHARITY based in Barrhead is staging six weeks of fun for youngsters this summer.

The team at Include Me 2 Club (IM2C), based in the town’s Main Street, kicked off their Summer Festival of Fun earlier this month, thanks to Cash for Kids.

Until August 11, the charity will be providing play, games, sports and fun sessions from 10am until 12pm followed by lunches for each child, at the astro pitch, next to Barrhead High.

Ashliegh Thomson, IM2C’s Children’s Coordinator, told the Barrhead News: “We have a fun filled two hours, led by our street play teams and Street Games teams.

“We kicked started the festival last week in Barrhead, and more than 90 children and young people came along. It was fantastic.

“Our three to 11-year-olds participated in play activities, including races, free play, parachute, teams’ games, in response to the social media hashtag, #summerofplay, and the calls for more outdoor play opportunities for children.

“In the spirit of Wimbledon, our young people played tennis, which for some was a new sport to experience.

“We have responded to a need and a call for summer activities in the Barrhead area for local youngsters. The event has been a huge success and welcomed by all.”
