An award-winning Barrhead salon has reached a major milestone after facing a fight for survival during the pandemic and being closed through lockdown.

Just months after opening back up on April 26, F&M Hairdressing on Cross Arthurlie Street has celebrated its 20th birthday.

The achievement also follows news in May that they were in the running for the Best Local Salon crown at the 2021 Salon Business Awards for the second year in a row.

Along with numerous awards and accolades over the years, the team’s photographic collection has also graced the covers of global magazines and been published in countries around the world.

Originally founded in 2001 by Brian MacMillan and Kevin Paul Finnell, the pair aimed to create a “relaxed boutique space”.

The current salon space, originally an old bank, caters for all the team's needs, with two salon floors, staff spaces, management offices, colour bar and barbering sections.

Salon director Brian said: “Celebrating 20 years of F&M Hairdressing has been incredible. We can’t believe just how far we have come since opening the doors back in 2001.

“To see our vision come to life and to continue after all these years is amazing and we couldn’t have done it without the fantastic support of our team and of course our clients and neighbouring businesses.

“The last year has been incredibly difficult for us, just like many businesses across the UK, however our hard work over the years has carried us through and allowed us to come out the other side.

“Here’s to the next 20 years.”
