POLICE are appealing for information after three people were seriously injured in a horror road crash in Barrhead.

The incident took place at around 11am this morning in Glasgow Road, just south of its junction with Hurlet Road.

It is understood that two men, aged 33 and 54, had to be cut free from their cars by firefighters and a 60-year-old woman was also knocked down in the incident.

Police Scotland immediately sealed off the busy traffic route to allow an investigation to take place and Scottish Ambulance crews treated all three casualties at the scene.

Barrhead News:

The 33-year-old man and 60-year-old woman were taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital, in Glasgow, for treatment to serious injuries, while the 54-year-old man was taken to the Royal Alexandra Hospital in Paisley.

Sergeant David Bulloch, of Glasgow’s road policing unit, said: "This was a serious crash that resulted in three people being taken to hospital and we are working to establish the full circumstances of what happened.

"I would ask anyone who was travelling in the area at the time and may have dash-cam footage of a white Vauxhall that can help with our collision investigation to get in touch. I would also ask anyone in the area with private CCTV to contact us."

Barrhead News:

A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson added: "Operations Control mobilised three appliances to the scene, where crews removed one casualty from each of the vehicles involved using hydraulic rescue equipment.

"They were both handed into the care of the Scottish Ambulance Service, who also treated a pedestrian casualty.

"Crews made the area safe before leaving."
