East Renfrewshire Council is consulting residents on a major development aimed at improving Barrhead’s Carlibar Park.
The public consultation is taking place ahead of the local authority applying for planning permission for the proposals which will seek to transform derelict land at Walton Street in the town centre.
A live online question and answer session for the public is to be held on June 7 via Microsoft Teams from 5pm to 7pm.
Locals can also have their say via an online survey which closes on June 14.
An East Renfrewshire Council spokeswoman said: “Ahead of applying for planning permission, we are consulting the public on plans to replace derelict land in Barrhead with a riverside park.
“At the planning application stage there will be an opportunity to submit formal representations."
The consultation also looks at "sections of the river downstream near Carlibar Primary School and the red ash pitch near the bowling green".
The proposals will transform the derelict land by widening the river channel into a sinous open feature surrounded by new parks and gardens.
There will be new woodland planting, meadow sowing and footpaths, while the weir at Carlibar Primary School will be adjusted to allow salmon to pass upstream.
Seating, an outdoor education space and a community growing area will also be included.
