A drop-in vaccination clinic will open in Barrhead on Friday for those aged 40 or over who have yet to be fully protected against Covid-19.

Anyone in this age group who has not yet had their first dose of vaccine or has waited more than 10 weeks for their second AstraZeneca dose can go along without an appointment.

The jabs will be administered at the Barrhead Foundry, from 9am until 3pm.

There will also be a drop-in clinic at the Carmichael Hall, in Eastwood, from 9am until 6pm on Friday and Saturday.

A spokesperson for NHSGGC told the Barrhead News: “People will be seen on a first come, first served basis and there will be a set capacity each day.

“Future dates will be made available if required.”

Although East Renfrewshire has been experiencing some of the highest Covid rates of any council area in Scotland, it has now gone nine weeks without a death from the virus.
