Police were called to a Barrhead street yesterday after a man who had taken ill tragically died.
Officers and medics were sent to the Glasgow Road area at around 11.30am but were unable to save the man, who was pronounced dead at the scene.
According to an eyewitness, the incident took place near the site of a new crematorium being built at the Hurlet.
A police spokeswoman said: “Officers were called to assist the Scottish Ambulance Service as a person had taken unwell in the Glasgow Road area at around 11.30am.
“His family have been informed and a report will be sent to the Procurator Fiscal in due course.”
There are not believed to be any suspicious circumstances surrounding the death.
