A DROP-IN vaccination clinic is being opened in Barrhead for those aged 40 or over who have yet to be fully protected against Covid-19.

Bosses at NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) announced the move in response to high virus rates in the area.

Anyone aged 40 or over who has not yet had their first dose of vaccine or has waited more than 10 weeks for their second AstraZeneca dose can go along without an appointment.

The jabs will be administered at the Barrhead Foundry on Friday, June 4, from 9am until 3pm.

There will also be a drop-in clinic at the Carmichael Hall, in Eastwood, from 9am until 6pm on Friday, June 4, and Saturday, June 5.

In addition, people can drop into the vaccination hub at the Lagoon Leisure Centre, in Paisley, between 9am and 6pm today.

From 9am until 3pm on Saturday, June 5, jabs will be given at Renfrew Leisure Centre and Johnstone Town Hall.

A spokesperson for NHSGGC told the Barrhead News: “People will be seen on a first come, first served basis and there will be a set capacity each day.

“Future dates will be made available if required and we will use our social media channels to keep people regularly updated about potentially busy periods at each of the centres.”
