BARRHEAD Rotary Club has issued an appeal for community-minded volunteers.

Over the past 50 years, the club has raised money for a number of good causes locally and around the world.

Interim president Douglas Yates said: “As we are about to enter another Rotary year on July 1, Barrhead Rotary is seeking new members – people who care about their community and their environment and are interested in helping others develop their organisational skills.

“As restrictions are eased in East Renfrewshire, we want to get back to the task of improving Maxton Garden. We made a good start to that task after adopting the garden from the council but haven’t been able to do any work in it for the last 15 months.

“We hope to make the garden as attractive a community space as it once was several years ago.”

A call is also being issued to people aged 18 to 30 to join Barrhead’s Rotoract Club.

It is sponsored by Barrhead Rotary but independently run, with its own office bearers.
