Detectives are appealing for information after an 86-year-old man was robbed in his own home on the outskirts of Barrhead.

The elderly victim was at home in Waukglen Drive, Darnley, at around 4.25pm on Sunday when three men forced their way inside and threatened him before fleeing the scene with various items, including jewellery.

Police said the pensioner was uninjured but has been left "very badly shaken" as a result of the robbery.

The three suspects, who drove off in a white car, are described as white and aged between 20 and 30.

One was wearing a light blue shirt with cream-coloured trousers, while another was in a white hooded top and dark trousers. The third man was dressed in dark clothing.

Detective Constable Kris Elliott said: “Targeting an 86-year-old man and making him feel vulnerable in his own home is despicable.

“Our enquiries are continuing to identify and trace the three men involved and anyone with any information that will assist our investigation should contact the Community Investigation Unit at Govan through 101, quoting reference 2532 of May 23.

"Alternatively, Crimestoppers can be contacted on 0800 555 111, where anonymity can be maintained.”
