Police in East Renfrewshire are urging motorists not to risk driving while under the influence, after officers had to deal with a series of offences in Barrhead and Neilston.
In the space of a few days, three motorists who were stopped on local roads were allegedly found to be driving while unfit due to drink or drugs.
Officers on patrol stopped a 36-year-old van driver in Aurs Road, Barrhead, and a breath test indicated he was more than six times the legal limit for alcohol, which is 22mcg in 100ml of breath.
He was arrested for alleged drink-driving and road traffic offences and is the subject of a report to the Procurator Fiscal.
The next evening, a 35-year-old man was stopped while driving in Neilston and was found to be in possession of cannabis.
He also failed a roadside ‘wipe test,’ indicating that he may have been driving whilst under the influence of drugs, with police saying their enquiries are ongoing.
Officers then dealt with a third incident after a member of the public reported that a vehicle may have been involved in a minor collision in Aurs Road.
A 25-year-old woman was later arrested for alleged drug-driving offences and is also the subject of a report to the Procurator Fiscal.
