Bosses at an East Renfrewshire hotel have employed little foodies to put their new children’s food menu to the taste test.

The youngsters were invited to the new Bird & Bell restaurant at The Redhurst Hotel, in Giffnock, which is reopening today after a major refurbishment.

The Bird & Bell will offer guests a contemporary menu, complete with a total overhaul of the children’s food offering.

And, to ensure the meals appeal to even the harshest of little critics, the hotel brought in a young panel to help test out the new Little Explorers menu.

The panel carried out taste tests of each dish before giving their official stamp of approval to the final menu, which will be reviewed seasonally by the Little Foodies team in collaboration with the hotel’s head chef.

General manager Lesley Smith told the Barrhead News: “It was really important to us that we got the family food offering right in the new Redhurst Hotel.

“We were not previously known for our children’s food options, so we wanted to make sure the new menu was on point – and who better to taste test and give us their honest feedback than children themselves?”

Seven-year-old Poppy Ure, who is part of the Little Foodies panel, added: “We tried a lot of dishes and tried to think of our favourite things to eat when we are out with our families and friends.

“We picked the ultimate mac and cheese and even a sweetie-topped ice cream sundae.

“We think other children are going to love it.”

The Little Explorers menu will be offered seven days a week in the Bird & Bell restaurant, from 10am until 8pm.

Children will also be issued with a Little Explorers passport to be stamped each time they visit the hotel and will receive a free brunch after they have collected six stamps.
