A THREE-LEGGED pooch has been crowned the winner of our Perfect Pet contest.

Entries poured in, with dogs, cats, guinea pigs and rabbits all being nominated.

It was then up to our readers to vote for the winning pet – and much-loved canine Ted can now be named as ‘top dog.’

The Chinese Shar-Pei’s owner, Stacey Murney, wins the £300 prize after he received the most votes.

Stacey, who is mum to 12-year-old son Ashton, revealed how her pampered pet is lovingly known as ‘Tripaw Ted,’ due to his missing leg.

“We got Ted when he was an eight-week-old puppy,” she said. “He lost a leg after he was run over by a van in October, so it is quite a recent event.

“He is seven months into his recovery and has adjusted to his new life with three legs. It doesn’t phase him at all.

“I created a TikTok account to document his recovery and he now has more than 40,000 followers. He’s the famous Tripaw Ted.”

Stacey, 31, from Johnstone, will use her winnings to buy four-year-old Ted a special harness.

“Ideally, there is a recommended harness for him,” the 31-year-old said. “It costs around £100 and we’ve not been able to get him it so we’ll definitely be getting him that, along with lots of treats and a new bed.

“A massive thank you to everyone who voted for him.”

Our thanks go to all readers of The Gazette and the Barrhead News who took part in this year’s contest.
