A MAN was arrested after allegedly playing loud music, banging on objects and throwing items from the window of a flat in Barrhead.

Police were called to Barnes Street at 12.40pm on Monday in response to reports of someone causing a disturbance.

The incident prompted a heavy police presence and the street was closed off for a short period of time.

Officers were contacted by members of the public who feared it was a firearms incident but were able to reassure them that this was not the case.

A 23-year-old man was taken into custody.

Inspector Michelle Grant told the Barrhead News: “Due to immediate concerns for his welfare, we forced entry to the property and he was found safe and well.

“He was primarily arrested for breach of the peace, along with other associated offences.”
