THE Conservatives have held Eastwood in the Scottish Parliamentary election.
The seat – a major target for the SNP – has been retained by Jackson Carlaw with an increased majority of 2,216.
He secured 17,911 votes, with nearest challenger Colm Merrick, of the SNP, getting 15,695.
Labour, represented by Katie Pragnell, were in third place with 6,759 votes, followed by Independent candidate David Macdonald on 1,352, Tahir Jameel, of the Liberal Democrats, on 911, and Janice Mackay, of UKIP, on 75.
Turnout was 76.2%.
The constituency covers the council wards of Giffnock and Thornliebank, Netherlee, Stamperland and Williamwood, Newton Mearns South and Eaglesham, Clarkston, Netherlee and Williamwood and part of Newton Mearns North and Neilston.
