A DETECTIVE investigating the murder of a Drumchapel man has blasted the public's response to the probe as "disappointing" as he urged people to come forward.

Frustrated Detective Chief Inspector Cameron Miller from the Major Investigation Team, believes the crucial clues in the murder of Craig Shaw are being held back by people in the community "for whatever reason".

He called on people in the area to "do the right thing" and hand over information that would lead to the capture of Craig's killers.

DCI Miller added: "Craig was very much a creature of habit and didn’t venture far from his home address.

"This is a busy area and I’m convinced that people will have significant information that will move this inquiry forward, but for whatever reason, they have not yet come forward to speak to us.

"Please do the right thing and contact us as soon as possible."

We told previously how cops had narrowed down the time in which they believed the 45-year-old was murdered, to be between 7.25pm on Wednesday, April 21 and 5.55pm on Thursday, April 22.

His family have been left devastated by the brutal attack which ended Craig's life. He was described by those who knew him as a "lovely" and "quiet" man.

DCI Miller added: " Any information, no matter how insignificant it may seem, can be passed to officers by phoning 101 quoting reference 2750 of April 22. Alternatively, phone Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111, where anonymity can be maintained.

"We have also set up a website that gives members of the public access to a form to send information directly to the Major Investigation Team.  You can select to remain anonymous when submitting information. The portal can be accessed at https://mipp.police.uk/operation/SCOT21S12-PO1

“Increased patrols are in the area to provide public reassurance while our investigation continues. If you have any concerns please speak to these officers.”
