An article written by the former SNP MSP, George Kerevan last year caught my eye.
It appeared on the political website, Conter, and elegantly dismantled the conceit that Holyrood and Scotland’s political landscape is in any way representative of the country.
As well as detailing the SNP’s deep-rooted links to Big Business and its neo-liberal tendencies Kerevan also highlighted the managerialism which holds sway at all levels of Government. These were disproportionately occupied by an elite professional class and scores of party bureaucrats. You won’t hear many working class voices in the state-rooms of Holyrood.
On the eve of the Scottish election only two things are absolutely certain: that the SNP will win handsomely and that working class people will still be largely unrepresented.
