A WOMAN was grabbed and pulled over a hedge by a drug addict who was in possession of a knife.

The culprit, Daniel Lester, who has a “substantial” background of offending, then shouted and swore in hospital before spitting at a police officer.

Lester, 35, of Robert Smith Court, Lumphinnans, appeared from custody at Dunfermline Sheriff Court.

He admitted that on April 1, at South Street, Lochgelly, he assaulted a woman by seizing hold of her wrist and pulling her over a hedge to her injury.

He was unlawfully in possession of a knife at the time.

He also admitted that at Victoria Hospital, he repeatedly shouted, swore, acted aggressively, spat on the floor repeatedly and refused to desist when asked to do so.

He further admitted that at Dunfermline police station, he assaulted a police officer by spitting at him.

Defence solicitor Alexander Flett conceded his client had a “substantial record” and said the latest offending occurred during a “relapse into drug misuse”.

Sheriff Pino di Emidio called for a drug treatment and testing order and deferred sentence until May 26. Bail was granted.
